"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8. The fulfillment of Jesus’ words has been the mission of the God’s followers for nearly 2000 years. This declaration has inspired apostles, evangelists, ministers, teachers, and believers since it was uttered at Jesus ascension to heaven. The blessed hope, the belief that Jesus would come and take us to heaven when this prophecy is fulfilled continues to move us to action. Our hope is in the coming of our Lord.
This commission of reaching every home in our West Texas and New Mexico territory burns within our souls just as certainly as it burned within the hearts of the apostles and first believers. From our first organized church in Albuquerque in early 1896 to the organization of the Texico Conference in 1916 with 22 churches and 504 members scattered over the plains, sands, and mountains that make up this vast territory, we can now rejoice that in 2013 our great family now consists of nearly 80 congregations, 32 ministers, and over 12,000 members striving to reach our territory for Christ.
